Everything You Need to Know about the ACA Exam Tuesday, February 5, 2019
In this web event, Dr. Mott Linn, Head of Collections at the Robert H. Goddard Library at Clark University and past President of the Academy of Certified Archivists, discussed what it means to be a certified archivist and how to prepare for the certified archivist exam offered by the ACA. This event offered a ton of information about how questions for the exam are constructed (including a couple of sample questions!) and the application process for becoming a certified archivist. Get Mentored: How to Take Advantage of SAA's Mentoring Program Wednesday, November 14, 2018
In this web event, several guests joined us for a panel discussion about SAA's Mentoring Program. We heard from current mentors and proteges about their experiences with the SAA Mentoring Program and how it can help your career planning. We also heard from Alison Clemens and Jennifer Motszko, Co-Chairs of the Mentoring Program Subcommitte, about how the program works and how students can sign up. This event was full of great information and advice on the mentorship program in general, but also on the importance of networking for professional development. A Visit to the San Diego Zoo Library & Archives Saturday, November 10, 2018
SAASC and SLASC, along with the SLA San Diego chapter, visited the San Diego Zoo Global Library & Archives, located on the SD Zoo's Safari Park campus in Escondido, California. Following the visit to the library and archives, participants enjoyed a private tour of the new "Walkabout" exhibit at the Safari Park!

A Visit to LACMA Library &Archives September 21, 2018
SJSU students enjoyed a tour of LACMA's library and archives. Archivist, Jessica Gambling and Head of Research Libraries and Archives, Alexis Curry, gave a fun and informative talk on the nature of LACMA's operations and holdings. Ms. Gambling was especially informative about the installment and development of LACMA's archival program over the last 8 years, with special emphasis on the nature of working in a museum archive. The event included the opportunity to ask questions and discuss in general some of the issues and concerns of the archival profession, and concluded with access to browse the museum's exhibits.
