Where: Collaborate https://sas.elluminate.com/d.jnlp?sid=2011274&password=D.6269CA7856848FDD81B6192B991ACD At our first meeting we have the pleasure of having both Rebecca Goldman, one of the founding members of SAA's SNAP Roundtable, and Melissa Gonzales, current SNAP chair, as speakers. We will also be holding a raffle for an Amazon Gift Card for those that attend! So don’t miss our first meeting and our great speakers! Rebecca Goldman is the Media and Digital Services Librarian at La Salle University’s Connelly Library, where she supervises the University Archivist, oversees digitization projects, and manages the library’s digital collections. She holds a BA in linguistics from Swarthmore College (2007) and an MS in library and information science from Drexel University (2008). Rebecca is the founder of SAA’s Students and New Archives Professionals Roundtable and served as its chair until August 2013. She is also the author of Derangement and Description, a webcomic about archives. Melissa Gonzales received her MS in Library & Information Science/Archives Management Concentration from Simmons College in 2009, and went on to become a certified archivist in 2011. Since graduating, she has worked as the Goliad County Archivist in Goliad, Texas, and as the Processing Archivist at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Dickinson Research Center. She is currently the University Archivist for the University of Texas at Arlington. For the past few years she has served on the Membership and Publicity Committees of the Society of Southwest Archivists, in addition to serving on their Executive Board for a year. Her first SAA roundtable experience was working on the SNAP Bylaws Subcommittee, which then led to her time on the steering committee last year. Given how strongly she feels the profession should support and boost its students and new professionals, she is thrilled to be serving as the SNAP Chair this year. She has also been serving on SAA’s Mentoring Subcommittee for the past year and is hoping to not only help people find mentors, but to also see if the subcommittee can’t make some positive and effective changes to the program, and ultimately, the profession.
