2019-2020 Executive Committee

Membership Requirements

All elected officers must also be individual members of Society of American Archivists (SAA).
​If you are not currently an SAA member, you can still run for election.
​However, if you are elected you will have to become a member of SAA and provide proof of your membership right away.

Executive Committee Duties

Chair

The Chair will perform the following duties:
  1. Act as the executive authority on all matters concerning the functioning of SAASC and its relationship with SAA, iSchool, and SJSU;
  2. Plan, announce and moderate meetings;
  3. Oversee the content of the SAASC website and social media presence, including communications through the current San José State University online learning interface;
  4. Supervise the production and distribution of publications;
  5. Annually update and renew SAASC's recognition status with SJSU;
  6. Collect all relevant documents to be housed in the SAASC archives, these documents may include but are not limited to: minutes, publications, official correspondence, photographs, videos, electronic files, and other items deemed to be of enduring value; and
  7. Facilitate the compilation and submittal of the Annual Report for SAA (due May 31st).

Vice-Chair

  1. Assume the office of the Chair should it be vacated during the stated term of office;
  2. Assume the duties of the Chair when he/she is absent;
  3. Assist with any functions designated by the Chair;
  4. Plan and coordinate the organization of events in cooperation with the Executive Committee and the general membership;
  5. Identify and announce events held outside, but relevant to, SAASC;
  6. Form ad hoc committees as needed; and
  7. Assist with the compilation of the Annual Report for SAA.

Secretary

  1. Maintain a complete and current roster of all members.
  2. Record the minutes and maintain chapter archives.
  3. Assist with the compilation of the Annual Report for SAA;
  4. Assist in maintaining the SAASC website, online learning and communication portal (Canvas), social media sites, and its link to the following web sites: SAA, iSchool, and SJSU.
  5. Other duties as needed to support the Executive Committee and SAASC programming and activities.
