Listservs
SAA maintains about ten listservs for various segments of the archival community. See the complete list at http://www.archivists.org/listservs/
A few that are of particular interest to SJSU MLIS and MARA students are:
- "Archives & Archivists" This list generates between 10-40 emails per day. With a subscriber base of 3,500 archivists, the list shares information of interest to the archival community in the US and world. Frequently, practicum and job listings from all over the US are posted.
- "Students and New Archives Professionals (SNAP) Roundtable" This newly formed (2012) roundtable generates between 10 and 20 emails per day. Postings are focused solely on students and new archivists, including class selection, job hunting, and resume writing. You can join the SNAP listserv without being a member of the RT: click the "Join/Leave" on the SNAP roundtable page and login with your SAA website credentials.
- "SAA Student List" This list generates 0-1 emails per month. Focus is on issues relevant to archival-studies students.
- "West Arch" This list generates between 0-5 emails per day. It is sponsored by the Society of California Archivists and shares information of interest to the archival community in California and the Western US; occasionally, practicum and job ads from the Western US are posted.
