The 2nd Joint Student Chapter Meeting & Mini-Conference for the Society of American Archivists took place on June 18, 2016 at the California State Archives! Five SJSU iSchool students joined approximately the same number of Sac State Public History students to learn about archives management and outreach and enjoy a tour of the State Archives. SJSU SAASC was pleased to collaborate with the Sacramento State Chapter of SAASC to present Records Management with Eira Tansey, Digital Archivist/Records Manager from the University of Cincinnati! In this event, Eira discussed a broad overview of Records Management and what archivists should understand about it. Eira is a Steering Committee Member of the Society of American Archivists Records Management Roundtable and serves as the Student Chapter Liaison. Listen to the recording here or view the slides.

One of the largest and most complete research libraries in the United States, the Huntington Library has an extensive collection of rare books and manuscripts in the subjects of American and British history and literature. On April 15, twenty lucky iSchool students in the Southern California Area were able to attend a tour of the Huntington, facilitated by SAASC member Natalie Flores-Rios.

Annual Members Meeting via Blackboard Collaborate. At the meeting we introduced ourselves, as well as the members of the Events Team and Web Team. We also described the function of each of our positions on SAASC.
